Backup centers
Nowadays there is a growing dependence between business activity, reliability and fast access to data. We understand, that continuous flow of data is the key for judging the situation and making business decisions. Intervals in data accessibility are very expensive. More frequently a lot of data and documents exist only in electronic form. Lack of paper copies sometimes prevents from reconstruction of data in case of a major malfunction.
Reports from leading consulting companies ( Gartner Consulting, Ferrester Research, Meta Group ) show estimated costs resulting in IT operating centers breakdown. These figures give reason for designing Disaster Recovery Centers, which take over key functions in case of operating center malfunction. If the company is not prepared for any operating center breakdown, its recovery is very expensive, and frequently impossible. In extreme cases operating center breakdown may lead to company downfall.
According to us the basis of spendings for data recovery after a disaster is a carefully designed project. One of the aims of the project is a simulation of business effects, which will occur in case of a catastrophe. Main criteria when designing a backup center is the time, after which it is possible to resume business activity after a breakdown.
